About Our School
South Perth Primary School sits centrally placed in the South Perth community, near shopping centres and the Zoo and a few hundred metres from the Swan river and views across to the central business district of Perth.
Residences range from luxury apartments on the river, to modern homes on rezoned blocks, to the original Californian bungalows built in the 1930s. About 40% of all residences are rental. Many families arriving in Western Australia find the proximity to the city and the ready availability of housing attractive and enrol their children at the school.
The staff at South Perth Primary School is experienced and their length of service at the school ranges from one to thirty years. The school is adequately staffed and is able to offer specialist programs in Library Usage, Music, Physical Education, Computer Education and Japanese as well as catch-up programs in Literacy and Mathematics.
The school has airconditioned classrooms, two pre primary centres which have a shared playground, an Out of School Care Centre within its grounds, a school hall that is used for assemblies and is hired out to community users of an evening and a well-established permaculture garden and advanced environmental studies program.
The school prides itself on providing a secure and welcoming environment for its students.
The school's P&C Association has a long history of active and positive participation in school affairs. A School Council has been operating for several years and will expand its functions under the new Education Act.
South Perth Primary School celebrated its centenary in 1998 and looks forward with confidence to maintaining, and building upon its fine traditions of academic excellence, strong community spirit and individual endeavour.
